Matt the Electrician, “Home Again”
"Matt Sever — DBA Matt the Electrician — sings about virtue and hope on his upcoming album We Imagined an Ending. In the jangly first release “Home Again,” the Austin singer-songwriter explores the idea of prudence. “If you’re gonna be here now, you better take a deep breath,” he sings, advising patience and caution in 2021. The guitars are Big Star bright, the harmonies choir-like, and Matt’s own delivery a jolt of clarity in a cacophonous world. It’s a journey to zen, in just under four minutes." -
Singer-songwriter Marian Call does things a little differently. Her trusty typewriter is always at her side, her songs are all about spaceships, avocados, and Windows Vista, and she makes her home in Alaska. A careful completionist, she played in all fifty United States in 2010, and tours the U.S., Canada, and Europe for most of her working year. Call’s music has been described by fans as “funky acoustic joy jazz” — her eclectic, humorous and heartfelt songs reach across all ages and demographics.
“This pop songstress from Anchorage churns out shifting, orchestral tunes across her double-album, Something Fierce. She can be minimal and charming (“Free Bird”) or layered and commanding (“Good Morning Moon”), but the string that connects Call’s tunes is her playful personality.” – Paste.com
“Marian Call is a word nerd, but has become the preeminent Geek Chanteuse to a wide and motley array of awkwardly obsessive acolytes. She’s more than this, of course, but clearly no less. …Her superpower is recognizing paradoxes or antinomies in human experience and distilling them to heart- and mind-moving simplicity without pretending to resolve them.” – Popehat.com
