Over a 20-year career, Maine guitarist Matt LaJoie‘s work has spanned experimental folk, psychedelic rock, and kosmische ambient in both solo (Cursillistas, ML Wah, Thick Air) and ensemble (Herbcraft, Ash & Herb, Starbirthed) form. Live and on record, Matt creates songs via improvisation with a looping pedal in a creative process he has dubbed “automatic composition”. His new solo album, Stonehouse, is out October 10th and is his Flower Room label's 102nd release.
Born and raised in Rochester, NH, Doug Tuttle grew up surrounded by music, from his father’s cover bands to the steady influence of MTV. Early obsessions with Billy Idol, Bon Jovi, Poison, and surf rock legends The Ventures set the stage for his lifelong path as a musician. After cutting his teeth in punk and hardcore bands, he moved to Boston in 2000, where he co-founded The Mules and later the psych-rock band MMOSS.
Since going solo, Tuttle has released acclaimed records on Trouble In Mind, Burger Records, Six Tonnes De Chair, and more, blending psychedelic textures with personal songwriting. His albums Doug Tuttle, It Calls On Me, Peace Potato, Dream Road, and his latest, Keeping Alive (Echodelick Records), reflect his dedication to exploring sound entirely on his own terms. Whether recording at home or collaborating with artists like Matt Lajoie, Tuttle continues to craft music that balances introspection with expansive sonic landscapes.
