MATRA Enthusiasts Club UK in collaboration with Avantime Alliance UK presents-
Avantime's and Aviation- The 25th Anniversary.
To mark the 25th Anniversary of the Renault Avantime, the last car Matra made, an event is being held over the weekend of 25th and 26th July 2026 in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, which is twinned with Romorantin in France where all our cars were made.
SATURDAY 25TH- Meeting at 9am, an attempt is being made to display a full line up of Matra's from Djet to Avantime (a first for the UK ) in the grounds of Long Eaton Town Hall. The town's Mayor, MP and press have been invited. This gathering is FREE. During the day an optional short walk to Romorantin Place, which is the towns nod to the twinning, will be undertaken for photos. At around 4pm we will go our separate ways or travel a short distance to the Kegworth Hotel and Conference Centre which is the official event weekend accommodation. We will all have dinner together there in the evening. A preferential room rate can be obtained by using the code Car10 via the hotels website https://kegworthhotel.co.uk/ . We recommend the dinner, bed and breakfast option for the best value however you are more than welcome to attend the dinner even if you are only going to the event on the Saturday and not staying at the hotel overnight. Early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment due to other high profile events happening in the area the same weekend. Payments won't be taken until the morning of arrival and all bookings except the slightly cheaper prepaid bookings, which are not refundable, are cancellable free of charge up to 2pm the day before arrival.
SUNDAY 26TH- After a breakfast together we will drive in convoy the short distance to the Aeropark Aviation Museum at East Midlands Airport where we will display our cars among the aircraft for the standard fee payable to the museum on the day of just £5 per person. The museum features a number of aircraft including a Vulcan Bomber and Nimrod reconnaissance aircraft and excellent viewing areas for watching the commercial aircraft come and go at the airport. Catering and toilet facilities will be provided by the museum.
