Did you know that one of the most prominent Women’s Rights leaders was also the mother-in-law of L. Frank Baum, author of the classic book “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz?” Author, abolitionist, suffragist, lecturer, and activist, Matilda Joslyn Gage was a force in the early 1900s.
Chris Glasgow, curator at the Oz Museum and Columbian Theatre Foundation in Wamego, will discuss Gage's achievements and how her influence can be found in Baum’s writing, especially in the brave, independent, and outspoken character named Dorothy Gale.
