Math Literacy: The Key to Empowering the Next Generation

We invite you to join the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education for our upcoming Critical Issues Forum, "Mathematical Literacy: The Key to Empowering the Next Generation," on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kennesaw State University.
Mathematical literacy is a critical skill that shapes economic opportunity, workforce readiness, and student success. This forum will explore how we can strengthen math education to better prepare the next generation of citizens with the tools they need to excel as individuals and give back to their communities. Discussions will focus on the importance of math literacy, innovative instructional approaches, and firsthand student experiences.
Featured speakers include:

• Dr. Kamau Bobb, Senior Director, Constellations Center for Equity in Computing, Georgia Institute of Technology
• Dr. Tonya Clarke, Math Coordinator, Clayton County Public Schools
• Mr. Bill Crombie, Director of Professional Development, The Algebra Project
• Ms. Maisha Moses, Executive Director, The Young People’s Project
• Dr. Brian Williams, Executive Director, The Bob Moses Research Center for Math Literacy Through Public Education

Registration, networking, and pre-event activities begin at 9:00 a.m. The program will start promptly at 10 a.m.

Kennesaw State University is located off I-75 at the Chastain Road Exit. The Central Parking Deck is located on Parliament Garden Way off Frey Road:

Please park in the Central Parking Deck on the third level or above. Keep in mind all vehicles enter on the second level.

Directions to the Academic Learning Center from Central Parking Deck:

Upon exiting the Central Parking Deck, please follow the pathway that veers to the right in between the Prillaman Health Sciences/Wellstar building and The Commons. At the sidewalk/crosswalk, you will see the Academic Learning Center across the roadway. The assigned room, ALC 1100 is on the first floor.
