Join us at Heritage House for a powerful, uplifting and heartfelt exhibition marking 80 years since the end of the Second World War (WWII) — “Mateship and War: Stories from South Perth.”Step back in time to discover how the spirit of mateship — courage, endurance, and friendship — helped shape our community both on and off the battlefield.
🪖 What you’ll see:
✨ Rare photographs and personal stories from South Perth locals who lived through WWII
🎖️ Original wartime memorabilia and uniforms from WWII
💌 Moving tales of friendship, sacrifice, and hope during Australia’s darkest days
This exhibition is curated by 13-year-old Oliver Newman who is a young historian and military enthusiast from Manning and attends Kennedy Baptist College. This marks not only Oliver’s debut in exhibition curation, but also the first time the Society has mentored and supported a young person to lead a major community project.
The exhibition is open Saturdays and Sundays 1pm - 4pm and Fridays 10am - 4pm and entry is free.
