MATES SATURDAY RUN / AGM
Start: 07:00 at Constantia Nek.
The run and hiking group both start at 07:00 from Constantia Nek.
This AGM will be a tribute to Mike. We'll be scattering his ashes and celebrating the life of the one and only CEO.
The group will hike together up the first part of Constantia Corner and then around into Agatha’s Gully to eventually emerge near the top of the normal Bel Ombre / Constantia Corner hike. There is minimal exposure on the way up and a fairly easy scramble that one can avoid if necessary. From there, follow the path to the De Villiers Dam (for a swim if it’s hot) via Camel Rock.
The hikers can then go back down the road from the dam to start the festivities. Runners will do a loop along Smuts, up Ash Valley, then back down Nursery or the Aqueduct, back down Smuts to the Overseers. After that, it’s back to the Nek via the concrete road & steps, or down Cecilia Ridge and along the contour. We can decide what we feel like on the day.
Distance: Probably not more than about 15kms with a very nice short cut available.
The AGM will start at aproximately 10:00. Bring the family and a picnic. Everyone is welcome – anyone who has ever run with us, knows someone who runs with us, whatever. This year will involve a lot of stories about the CEO, but sadly no speech. We still guarantee the bare minimum of admin – 5 minutes tops. Come along for a chat and a beer with old friends, new ones, and one absent one.
MATES will provide beers and some snacks.
Important Notes
Dress in weather appropriate and proper trail running gear. Must include a proper windproof (waterproof if raining) jacket. Carry plenty of water and energy snacks. You are running voluntarily and entirely at your own risk. If you run ahead of the group you will be deemed to have left the group and are on your own. Unfortunately, no dogs allowed.
