Experience Authentic Japanese Matcha Culture

This workshop offers an approachable introduction to Japanese matcha and tea culture, hosted in collaboration with a certified table-style tea ceremony instructor and Tokyo Handa-En Australia, a long-established Japanese tea specialist.

What to Expect:

Participants will be guided through the basics of Japanese tea culture in a relaxed, table-style setting.

• Introduction: Learn the history of Japanese tea and an overview of chado (the way of tea).
• Knowledge: Discover what matcha is and how it is traditionally enjoyed.
• Hands-on Experience: Learn how to prepare matcha step by step. You will have the opportunity to whisk and taste your own bowl of premium matcha.
• Tea & Sweets: Authentic Japanese wagashi (traditional sweets) will be served to complement the flavor of your tea, offering insight into the craftsmanship of Japanese confectionery.

Session Times (Monday, 26 January 2026 - Public Holiday):

• Session 1: 10:00 – 11:30
• Session 2: 14:30 – 16:00 (Family-Friendly Session - suitable for families with children aged 4+). Each session is limited to 8 participants.

• Kaori Sunami: Certified table-style tea instructor, known for her accessible and welcoming tea sessions.
• Mariko Handa (Fujita): Certified Japanese tea instructor and representative of Tokyo Handa-En Australia, sharing authentic tea culture from Sydney.
