From the bright lights of Karangahape Road to film sets, whānau life and te ao Māori, this is not your typical panel discussion. It’s a chance to hear real stories, told with humour, heart and honesty.
Joining Tamati are the fabulous Tess Tickle, one of Aotearoa’s most beloved drag performers; acclaimed filmmaker and proud lesbian mama Nicola Smith; and Whatonga Ua-Mauru Anson, a young tāne mau mataora whose journey of identity, culture and belonging offers a powerful perspective for a new generation.
Together they’ll explore the highs, lows and hilarious moments of life as takatāpui and rainbow people in Aotearoa. Expect kōrero about identity, whānau, visibility, resilience, love, finding your place in the world and the dreams we hold for the future.
Inspired by Hiwa-i-te-Rangi, the Matariki star connected to hopes, aspirations and the promise of what lies ahead, this special event celebrates the diversity, strength and brilliance of our rainbow communities while creating space for connection, reflection and joy.
