About the workshop:
Everyone manages cash, from households to chief financial officers of multinational companies and pension fund managers. Anyone who controls people, materials, or services, or makes decisions affecting resources, impacts their organisation's cash position.
This interactive masterclass will introduce participants to the basics of cash management, focusing on cash budgets and company cash flow statements. Participants will engage in exercises such as a cash flow quiz and creating cash budgets. Using a real company's cash flow statement, we will learn to identify key cash flow metrics and trends. The masterclass will conclude with a discussion of the strategies for positive cash flow management, essential for business success and survival.

About :
Arif completed his PhD from the ICMA Centre, University of Reading and joined the University of Manchester as a post-doctoral research associate. Subsequently, he took up a lectureship in Finance. He was promoted to Professor of Finance in 2013. He is currently the Associate Head of Research for the Accounting & Finance Division in Alliance Manchester Business School.
Arif’s research interests span a number of areas in corporate finance including IPOs, venture capital, payout policy and trade credit. He is the author of the book ‘The Mechanics and Performance of Initial Public Offerings. Arif has a passion for teaching and has been the recipient of a number of faculty outstanding teaching awards over the years.
Arif is on the editorial board of the British Accounting Review and the newly launched Journal of Sustainable Finance & Accounting. Previously he has served as an academic member of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) and as an external consultant to the UK Financial Conduct Authority and the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA). He has also been called upon as an expert witness in matters of corporate litigation.
