Beena Sarwar, a renowned multi-media journalist and academic, is bringing her expertise to the Bay Area in an exclusive Masterclass hosted by Dishari Public Library.
Beena Sarwar stands as a beacon of peace and social justice through her work in journalism and advocacy. With a career of two decades, she fearlessly tackles pressing issues such as gender equality, religious tolerance, and political unrest and is always striving to promote dialogue and reconciliation.
Beyond journalism, Sarwar's commitment to education and scholarship has been equally profound. She holds a BA degree in Art and Literature from Brown University and an MA degree in TV documentary from Goldsmiths College, London, and currently is a lecturer and visiting faculty member at prestigious universities such as Princeton University, Brown University, Emerson College and Harvard Summer School.
In this 6-hour workshop titled "Masterclass of Journalism for Peace" participants will investigate the art of unbiased, objective reporting in a world filled with fear, violence, and conflicting information. Whether you're a student or a community member, this is your chance to explore and learn from Beena's insights regarding interviewing techniques, research approach, observation exercise, writing tips and tricks, overcoming writer’s block and many more.
