Join Made in VA exhibiting artist Emma Knight for a master class inspired by her artistic viewpoint. Knight’s surreal landscapes, influenced by artists like Paul Gauguin and Georgia O’Keeffe, fuse botanical elements with puffy organic shapes, transporting viewers to otherworldly realms.
Gain insights into Knight’s signature techniques for creating depth, simplifying forms, and playing with light and shadow to achieve captivating, dream-like effects. Guided by visual research, engaging discussion, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants will learn to create their own landscapes with acrylic and water-soluble oil paints. Time will be spent creating compositional studies and practicing the handling of media before working independently on our own paintings. This approach will allow students to engage in essential studio practices before creating their own 10×14-inch landscape painting on canvas.
There will be a 30-minute lunch break, so please bring along a bagged lunch.
