Self-Help Singh is the alter ego of international comedian Masood Boomgaard. Described as a comedic alternative life coach and de-motivational speaker, he uses dry humour, parody and a surprising amount of common-sense wisdom to expose the absurdities of modern self-improvement.
The character allegedly emerged after a fateful fall on the way to the bathroom. Since then, Self-Help Singh has been sharing his “common sense wisdom” and de-motivational teachings with millions of people on the internet.
The Self-Help Singh live show is a hilarious yet thought-provoking juxtaposition of stand-up comedy, parody and motivational speaking. Instead of empty promises of success, Self-Help Singh offers pragmatic insights, absurd advice and the reassuring realisation that not every moment has to be maximised.
During his decade-long full-time professional comedy career, Boomgaard has performed in New York, London, Dubai and, during lockdown, in his father’s garage. With Self-Help Singh, he brings a show to the stage that entertains, exposes and de-motivates in equal measure.
