At the winter solstice thousands of people come together to carry through the streets and then burn a giant paper mache Tasmanian animal. Made by artists in Bali and called an ogoh-ogoh, the creature is filled with our written fears. We burn the fears together in a glorious ceremony on June 21st. Everyone's welcome to join in so why not do so in style wearing a mask!
These costs of these sessions ($15 kids, $25 adults) have been subsidised by the ogoh-ogoh project, and all materials are provided (though you're also welcome to bring anything you'd like to use!).
We suggest you book at least two sessions to be able to complete your mask (though you can book as many as you like!).
The ogoh-ogoh mask making sessions culminate with the final class taking place on June 21st, and a pre-parade celebration at the studio, with the parade and burning of the ogoh-ogoh taking place that evening and participants of the mask making workshops joining in the parade!
