Maryna Danovska is a Ukrainian artist and illustrator who grew up in the historic town of Hlukhiv. She later moved to Kyiv, where she finished art school and earned a Master's degree in Architecture. She spent eight years working in an architectural firm, mostly on reconstruction projects; where she learned to notice the beauty in details and stories hidden in old places.
This exhibition is titled Borders because borders are a motif in this artwork. When you think about it, border is a concept that is rich in meaning. It can mean, for example, a boundary defining one territory and separating it from another (lines on a map); a frame enclosing and drawing attention to what is inside the frame; or a decorative element that is integral to the design of a drawing. In all cases, the border tells a story.
