In conjunction with America’s 250th, Debra Sandoe McCauslin will present a program on Mary Jemison, a French and Indian Survivor. She was captured from land known today as Adams County by Shawnee and Frenchmen in April of 1758. She was taken to Fort Duquesne and adopted by the Seneca. She refused offers to return to the White World. Hear her amazing story.
Additionally, info will be provided on 14 of her descendants that attended Carlisle Indian Industrial School and two of them were on outings while school was not in session and they stayed with Adams County families. Learn their names and where they stayed.
This is a free and family-friendly event and all are welcome including students over age 12. Doors open at 6:10.
Program begins at 6:30.
There will be capacity for 200 people.
