Mary Ann’s Poor House Tales is a 30-minute self-guided audio and AR tour of Clifton House, sharing stories of Mary Ann’s life, her family, and the people who shaped her journey.
As you explore the historic rooms and corridors she once walked, you’ll hear about the residents she supported—individuals whose experiences bring the Poor House’s past to life. Augmented reality enriches the tour, allowing you to glimpse the nursery school created by Mary Ann and the Ladies Committee, investigate the basement where women and children learned trades to escape poverty, and view 18th-century Belfast from the windows, complete with the ship masts Mary Ann would have seen.
Clifton House is a Grade A Listed Georgian building and does not have a lift in this section.
If you require mobility assistance or alternative access, please contact us in advance at 028 9099 7022 so arrangements can be made.
