THE THEME IS “LIGHT IT UP”
Entry Fee: Free Educational & Public Safety Entries
$25.00 Religious, Non-Profit & Civic Entries
$25.00 Car Club Entries (PER VEHICLE)
$50.00 Commercial or Business Entries
$550.00 Professional Float (Pro-Float)
$25.00 Vendor Entry
Educational & Public Safety Entries: Schools (K-12), Colleges, Fire & Rescue, EMT and Police ONLY! Includes: School Homecoming Court, Junior Miss & Scholarship Pageants.

Vendor Entry: Vendors must complete the 2023 Vendor Application (Available upon request).

Rules & Regulations:
1. PARADE:
a. The parade will be held Saturday November 18, 2023 at 4:00pm
b. For a Rain Date please check our Facebook page.
c. Each entry must obtain permission slips for all participating minors
DO NOT SEND THEM IN!
2. THEME
a. The theme for this year’s parade is “LIGHT IT UP”. All floats should adhere
To parade theme, if being judged.
b. All decorations must be non-flammable. For assistance, contact your local fire
Department.
3. LATE FEE:
a. Entry applications are due by Saturday November 4, 2023
b. Any entry NOT postmarked by Saturday November 4, 2023
Will incur a late fee of $25.00 & will be added after the last entry. NO EXCEPTIONS
c. Applications WILL NOT be accepted once the line-up is finalized for the media & parade
Officials.
4. PARADE DAY:
a. We must have a “day of parade” contact phone number for each entry.
b. All parade entries must report to the appropriate division assembly area promptly by
3:00pm. Entries not in position by 4:00pm will not be allowed to participate.
c. Vehicles should maintain a walking pace speed, and must stay within 20 feet of the entry
In front of you.
5. FLOAT REQUIREMENTS:
a. Each entry must provide at least 2 adult supervisors to walk the parade route.
Children 14 & under are prohibited from walking alongside moving parade
Floats, vehicles & other motorized units.
b. Maximum float dimensions: Height 12’, Width 10’, Length 24’ (not to exceed 24’)
c. Motorcycles, minibikes & other similar vehicles are prohibited except by Law
Enforcement & Safety Officers, unless approved by the Committee & the City of
Martinsville.
d. No low-boy type equipment trailers (due to extensive length & low ground clearance).
e. SIRENS SIGNIFY AN EMERGENCY SITUATION ONLY. The use of sirens or horns are
Prohibited in the parade line-up & along the parade route.
f. NO dressing as Mr. & Mrs. Claus (parade committee selects “Official” Claus’s)
This includes plastic, stuffed & inflatable Santa. Santa hats are allowed.
g. Absolutely NO items may be thrown from your unit! This includes but is not limited
To: candy, beads, toys & pamphlets.
6. SIGNAGE:
a. Provided division number must be clearly displayed on both sides of the entry.
b. Pro-Floats & invited guests will be provided with signs.
7. PRO-FLOATS:
a. Any pro-float entries must be rented thru approved vendor.
b. Pro-floats have a maximum capacity for riders. Please note this when selecting
Your float as it is indicated on the sketch. The owners of the pro-float will enforce
This number.
8. JUDGING:
A. Judging will be based on appearance, color coordination, originality, and attention
To details & incorporation of the parade theme.
b. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each category
9. MUSICAL GROUPS & WALKING ENTRIES:
a. All musical groups are encouraged to perform selection(s) appropriate to the
Christmas season or corresponding parade theme.
b. Walking entries may perform forward motion drills, dancing, etc. on the parade
Route as long as they continue to move forward down the street in a timely manner.
c. Managers of marching or walking units are responsible for the safety of its members,
& must keep the pace of the parade. All walking or marching units must be in uniform
Related to the organization.
10. LIVE ANIMALS:
a. Live animals are prohibited from the parade route unless approved by the Committee.
b. If approved, participate must provide 1 costumed person or animal equipped with scoop &
Container to clean up behind the animal.
