Martin Sostre & Geraldine Pointer Mural Unveiling

Join the Justice for Geraldine and Martin Campaign for a mural unveiling ceremony on Saturday, August 22nd at 4PM, at Parker's Place, 1339 Jefferson Ave. This mural called "Continue the Struggle" is painted by community leader and emerging artist Emma Brittain. This mural depicts Martin Sostre and Geraldine (Robinson) Pointer, who were framed and arrested on July 15, 1967, for owning and operating the Afro Asian Bookshop at 1412 Jefferson and the East West Bookshop at 289 High St., which contributed to the Black Buffalo radical political consciousness, through selling Black Liberation and Nationalist, anti-Vietnam War, and anti-establishment literature, African carvings, and records.
Mural funding is supported through the Art Services Inc. of WNY and is administered through the Social Justice Community Education Project.
