Creator of one of London Folk Magazine’s albums of the year 2025, pioneering Cornish folk artist Martha Woods’s performance combines fiery fiddle tunes, powerful vocals and uplifting electronic beats, bringing the sound of Cornish music into a present-day landscape whilst being surprisingly respectful of the past folk traditions of her homeland.
This mixture of self-penned material (largely inspired by Cornwall’s folklore and history) and reimagined traditional songs and tunes is sure to get any crowd going, whether you want to sit and listen to tales of Cornwall’s ghosts and legends or get up and dance!
Martha grew up immersed in Cornish folk music and dance, and studied on Newcastle University’s Folk and Traditional Music Degree (including a year at the Irish World Academy in Limerick), graduating in 2023. Since then, she has released an array of music and performs regularly across Cornwall and further afield.
