Marma yoga is a unique and ancient practice that combines the principles of asana with the healing power of marma points. Marma points are vital energy points in the body, similar to acupressure points in Chinese medicine. In marma yoga class, you will cultivate a relationship with these points, and learn how they can be stimulated through awareness, gentle pressure, and specific postures to activate the body's innate healing abilities.During a marma yoga practice, the practitioner focuses on specific marma points, which are believed to be gateways to the body's energy channels. By stimulating these points, the flow of prana (life force energy) is enhanced, promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Marma yoga is a fusion of modified yoga poses (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), qi gong, somatics, and ends with a small offering of sound healing in Savasana, with a guided yoga nidra.
