Mission Coffee House Concert Series is excited to present the real life fairy tale and well known local band MarKaren, at The Hall at Heritage Park Centre (previously known as The Clarke Theatre Cafetorium), a premier acoustic listening room for discerning live music enthusiasts, located at 33700 Prentis Ave, Mission, BC!
MarKaren began as an international romance across the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and Canada in 2007. Mark and Karen created music together flying back and forth between their two countries multiple times for more than 6 years before landing permanently in Canada in 2013. A wedding uniting them both in February 2016 cemented their partnership and since then it has been a whirlwind of musical creations, with tours and festival performances across Canada, England, Germany, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
MarKaren's unique sound has been described as blues acoustic folk spliced with a twist of funk and jazz. Their heartfelt intimate performances and thought provoking lyrics weave lyrical stories that reflect the realities of life, serving as a reminder that we are not alone on this journey. Their songs offer us human connection and a way to express the inexpressible when words fail us, as they often do. MarKaren's music connects souls and mirrors everyday emotions, providing the soundtrack to our inner thoughts, uniting people together in celebration, enlivening audiences in an emotionally open and inviting atmosphere. Accept their invitation to come listen and be amongst friends. With them, you are always welcome.

We acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō People, who have occupied these lands since time immemorial. The City of Mission is located on Leq’á:mel, Semá:th, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, Máthexwi, and Katzie traditional territories. These facts remind us to live, work, and play with gratitude, grounded in kindness towards others and guided by truth.
