About this Event
The University of Liverpool will host the Maritime Industry Day in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University and Mersey Maritime. This event brings together academia and industry to explore how decarbonisation and digitalisation can be advanced in tandem. Through focused discussions, research showcases, and collaborative workshops, we aim to develop collaborative research projects and accelerate innovation and real-world impact.
About the Event
The maritime sector is undergoing a profound transformation. With the UK Government’s Maritime Decarbonisation Strategy setting ambitious targets—30% emissions reduction by 2030, 80% by 2040, and net zero by 2050—there is an urgent need to align innovation, policy, and industry action.
At the same time, digitalisation is reshaping the sector. From AI and digital twins to smart port infrastructure, digital tools are essential for reducing emissions, improving efficiency, and maintaining global competitiveness.
