THE RANZO BOYS: Lafayette Matthews (he/him), Jules Peiperl (they/them), and Lindsey Smith (they/she) are traditional folk singers putting the queerness back into maritime and folk music. Formed in NYC in 2020, they have performed at the Connecticut Sea Music Festival, the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival, NEFFA, and the South Street Seaport Museum, and recorded eight songs for public radio later broadcast as a national NPR special. Listen for buzzy English harmonies, Appalachian ballads, sea chanteys, droney instrumental backing, and any song that can be remotely construed as queer.
THE WHATEVERLY BROTHERS: Drawing from a rich and varied musical history, The Whateverly Brothers harken to the folksinger tradition that “No musical style is sacred.” Multi-instrumentalists, they blend guitar, cittern, whistles, and vocal harmonies to weave maritime songs that will resonate with anyone. Hoist anchor and sing along!
JULES MAES: Located in the Georgetown neighborhood, this may be “the oldest bar in Seattle”. Good beer, good entertainment, high ceilings, good bartenders, good food, they host a monthly shanty sing… we love this place. Come hear these 2 bands!

MARITIME FOLKNET is a federal 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving maritime culture and history, and encouraging people to explore and participate in that culture and history.
