The Kościuszko Foundation presents Marianna Stuhr’s In-Betweenness—abstract works exploring memory, transformation, and resilience.
About this Event

The Kosciuszko Foundation is pleased to present In-Betweenness: Landscapes of Suspension, a solo exhibition of new paintings and an installation by acclaimed Polish artist Marianna Stuhr, at its headquarters in New York City.

Curated by Lilly Wei, the exhibition marks a significant new chapter in Stuhr's artistic practice. Through abstract paintings created in response to personal loss and transformation, the artist explores landscapes of memory, uncertainty, and emotional experience. Large-scale canvases and a central installation invite viewers into spaces of transition, where meaning remains open and fluid, and abstraction becomes a way of engaging with the complexities of the human condition.

Join us for the opening reception and experience a powerful new body of work that reflects on resilience, perception, and the transformative possibilities of painting.

Marianna Stuhr is a Polish visual artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, and printmaking. Combining classical techniques with a contemporary visual language, her work explores memory, perception, human emotion, and the relationship between the visible and the unseen. Recent series draw on neuroscience and personal experience, while earlier bodies of work investigated concepts of space and astrophysics as metaphors for human existence. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and holder of a PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Stuhr lives and works near Frankfurt, Germany. Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Muzeum Krakowa, Porto.art (Portugal), Napiórkowska Gallery(Brussels), and the University of Connecticut, among other venues in Europe and the United States. Her works are held in the collections of the Museum of the City of Kraków, the University of Connecticut (USA), and Real Stories Gallery – Arts for Humanity Foundation (Durban, South Africa), Fibak Collection, In Situ, Contemporary Art Foundation, Sokołowsko, Poland, and Arte Novum Foundation, Poland.
