Cleah's Bequest is an irreverently funny story about a mother who manages to be even more overbearing in death than she was in life. Her three estranged adult children face the year-long challenge of an extensive checklist of requirements in order to inherit, starting with shared custody of her urn. Cleah's Bequest has a Knives Out feel in the forced interaction and finger-pointing, the cringy humor of Portlandia, and the slide into crazy of Where'd You Go Bernadette.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Mari Matthias has worked in the fields of education, social services, and healthcare. She lives with her family in Underwood, Washington. Cleah's Bequest is her second novel. Her first, The Runestone's Promise, was published by Unsolicited Press in 2022.
