'Margate Misfits: a Strength Documentary' Premiere Screening

Margate Misfits is a documentary film that examines the story and daily triumphs of Margate Barbell, an inclusive strength gym in an unassuming strip mall in Margate, Florida. Margate Barbell does not have the amenities of a big box gym, and it lacks the cultural cache and buzz of a Crossfit box, yet it has remained one of South Florida’s most acclaimed and decorated strength gyms since 2015. The film examines the stories of what makes this place so special for its members, why the pursuit of strength transcends boundaries, and how people create culture through shared struggles and successes.

Filmmakers Stef Rubino and Brendan Walsh (Fat Guy, Jacked Guy podcast) are full-time educators and writers and part-time strength athletes. They hope Margate Misfits highlights the joy of strength, community, and strength communities.
