MARCH OF THE MERMAIDS will rise again from the deep deep sea, for their annual parade. On Saturday 6th July 2024. Its free to join in the fancy dress parade, a £3 donation in the charity buckets is recommended. Brightons only official mermaid parade. Established for over 12 years, they organise this event as a celebration of sea and beach life, they raise awareness and support any official, sea related charity bucket-shakers who wish to join in. It's not just for mermaids of all ages, all forms of sea-life, including pirates are welcome to take part and this is a child friendly parade that lasts approximately one hour. It starts at the Peace Statue Hove Lawns. Bring a picnic for midday. Please dispose of rubbish sensibly (mermaids leave nothing but fin-prints). The parade starts prompt at 2pm with drummers - Tamandua and steel band Steel Tribe. Honour Mission - The Figurehead, leads the way with her megaphone. MotM are always looking for strong volunteers to carry the banners on the parade. Sea related charities are always welcome to get in touch with MotM if they would like to join along. This year MotM are joined by The Wave Project Brighton & Sussex, they provide Surf Therapy to young people aged 8-18 who need support with their mental health and the award-winning sessions give young people the opportunity to enjoy the sea, learn new skills and make friends in a safe and supportive environment.The parade will arrive at the legendary Fortune of War bar, for a clam-tastic party including entertainment from Maritime Crooner - Count Indigo and DJs Sgt Sketch and Nautical Nick T.
