Description in goodreads -
This funky, rude, unpretentious first novel traces the short, funny, and furious career of a group of working-class Irish kids who form a band, The Commitments. Their mission: to bring soul to Dublin!
It's a short read - 165 pages.
Happy Reading.
Recap of the February meeting. Discussion about "The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession and the Natural History Heist of the Century"
It was a lovely evening. It seemed that everyone found something in the book that they liked. Not everyone liked the scientific and/or history parts but stuck with it to see what happened next and everyone seemed to learn a little bit, even it was that women once wore entire birds on their hats. And there definitely were plenty of "obsessions" in the book. It was agreed that the author's writing was good which is what kept some readers forging ahead even when they might have wanted to give it up. It's definitely a different type of read. Ratings ranged from 6-10 with most in the 7-8 category.
The March meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 3/17 at 7:00 PM.
Please join us! ALL ARE INVITED!
New members and visitors are invited and encouraged to attend. We hope to see you at the library!!
