Meet Merrie Ford, our presenter for the March Guild Meeting."I LOVE CHOCOLATE" showcases the color Brown in a wide variety of quilts. I will talk about why we are attracted to certain colors and discuss ways to challenge ourselves as quilters to see colors in fresh ways. My program is personal, fun & informative, and consists of both slides and a trunk show of approximately 20 Quilts.
Merrie began sewing in 8th grade Home Economics Class & primarily made clothing for years. During her Senior year of high school, she sewed 78 garments – (her mother counted them!)
Merrie was introduced to quilting in the late 1970’s. Her first full size quilt was a sampler of traditional quilt blocks and was completely hand quilted.
Merrie moved to Kansas City in 2013. She has been an active member of the KC Modern Guild, and Studio Art Quilt Associates. Last summer she was honored to hold a Gallery Show entitled “Caution Horses” – which featured a collection of her Horse-themed Quilts, Collage work, and Wall-hangings.
Her time is now divided between quilting, sewing, painting, grandchildren, and helping her husband rehab old houses.
Merrie and her husband spend summers in NW Montana where they have restored an old barn and turned it into a Maker Space for Art and Quilting classes. If you have plans to be in Glacier Park- please let her know & stop by! 😊
