March for Monarchs (a pollinator learning event)

You have likely already observed a monarch butterfly near your residence or flower garden, perhaps basking in the sunlight. Let us commemorate the return of these magnificent creatures, the monarch butterfly. Are you aware that the monarch butterfly migrates from the mountains of Mexico? Are you aware that they travel back to Mexico in the fall? Learn about the significance of native milkweed and wildflowers in your area. We will be creating seed bombs in the fall. Join Miss Sherri at the Darkroom on July 18 to learn more about these fascinating creatures and observe the various stages of caterpillar and chrysalis development. This family-friendly event will commence at 1 with a pollinator parade, meeting at the Darkroom Brewing Co. Geneva at 12:30. Followed by snacks and prizes and a presentation. The theme will be bees, butterflies, and flowers. Contests and prizes, face painting, and gifts for children donated by local businesses and our community will be featured. On November 1, we will celebrate the migration back to Mexico with a Dia de los Muertos parade celebration, including best costume contests for all ages. Dress in your best Day of the Dead attire and bring photos of deceased loved ones, including pets, to honor their memory. This is a free event; however, donations are greatly appreciated and will be donated directly to saving the monarch butterfly. You can make a difference and support this cause.
