In 1989, the great Franz Schubert scholar Brian Newbould visited the SSO for a weekend-long Schubert Symposium. The SSO performed Newbould’s Symphony No. 7 realization (an academically informed completion of an incomplete score) on that occasion. Once again, the SSO will take up this fine Symphony after 36 years! Then the Deer Creek Chorale will join the orchestra for a variety of works including “Illuminare” by popular choral composer Elaine Hagenberg (led by guest conductor Michael Semancik). John Williams’ moving “Hymn to the Fallen” from “Saving Private Ryan” will follow, and a new and exhilarating composition by Philadelphia composer, and friend of the SSO, Kile Smith, will bring the program to an exciting conclusion!Assigned seating - buy your tickets early to reserve your seats!
