About this Event

Sacred Fire is inclusive of all people. In the presence of community, Sacred Fire helps us digest life, move emotions, and calm the mind so we can experience heart awareness, courage, grief, joy, gratitude, awe and connection. Community Fires, hosted in the Council House in Weaverville, NC by local Sacred Fire Firekeepers Lisa Lichtig & Patrick Hanaway offer an opportunity for personal and group transformation.

TIMING

  • 5:30 - 7:00 pm = Set-up Sacred Fire Council House, Hike the land, Potluck & Huichol Art for sale in our home. Children welcome.
  • 7:00 pm until ~ 10:30 pm = Sacred Fire. Adults only - Teens optional.

Doors close after fire is consecrated, please arrive on time. To receive the most benefit, It is ideal to stay until the end to complete our process together. However, we understand if you need to leave early.

COST - While listed as a free event, donations even as small as $5 are really helpful. Funds collected help offset the expenses involved in hosting monthly fires and events. Suggested donation of $5 - $20 can be made in onsite in the "fire gourd" or via paypal - please select friends and family to avoid service fees. Thank-you for your generosity❣️

CHILDREN - We love children though our monthly community fire process is for adults only (teenagers optional). Younger children & infants are welcome to come for the potluck portion. Once the fire is consecrated, we ask parents to bring their children home or enjoy time at the firekeeper's house (under the guidance of an adult). Note - nursing babies w/ mamas are welcome throughout the fire.

Children can benefit from Sacred Fire without being there through being around adults who are more present and connected with the help of the medicine of fire and community. We will continue to create more family friendly events and welcome your ideas.

VIDEO - WHY FIRE NOW

THE INVITATION - Fire embodies the spirit of heart and connection transcending all that divides us. As human beings, we have gathered around fire for millennia for its light and warmth, to cook our food, to share our lives, tell our stories, and connect. Fire holds a spiritual quality that can open hearts and forge courageous, compassionate connections with oneself, others and nature.

Engaging the sacred fire in the presence of others is one of humanity’s oldest traditions, where people from all walks of life, religions, traditions or no tradition are welcome. Community fires provide a space to connect with oneself, each other, nature and the world around us. When properly facilitated, Fire unlocks doors to personal healing and life improvement.

Community fires are hosted by Firekeepers, Lisa Lichtig or Patrick Hanaway who are part of the International Sacred Fire Community. They are trained, initiated and receive continuing education in the time-honored principles of "Fire Work" —a method of connection through skillful holding space and working with Fire’s power of illumination and transformation to facilitate both personal and community growth and healing.

Throughout time, this method of connection – which we call Fire Work – has helped societies form wise and balanced cultures and traditions. As today’s world grows increasingly complex, the advantages of this humans-and-Fire relationship have largely been forgotten. Sacred Fire offers all people the opportunity to experience Fire’s benefits.

Sacred Fire offers a safe place where

  • we can be vulnerable with our doubts & fears.
  • our load of concern, shock, fear, grief or anger is relieved.
  • our numbness can transform into a sense of well-being.
  • joy and connection emerge.
  • you can be you.

Come with your concerns or questions, your play, your songs, your stories, your gifts, your laughter, your tears, your presence and your silence. Each community fire has a different flavor or spirit that is created by the ingredients of the world around us, nature, and the people who participate that evening.
