Learn the fascinating process of how sap transforms into syrup—discover the ideal temperatures needed for sap to flow and the technique for tapping a maple tree. This engaging experience allows you to identify and tap live maple trees, and after your adventure, take a tour of the charming sugar shack while enjoying a variety of fun, maple-themed activities. Hop on a wagon ride, sample fresh maple sap and syrup, and explore the innovative tools and technology that make syrup production possible.Indulge in a delicious 'all-you-can-eat pancake celebration', then set aside an additional 1 ½ hours to embark on a tour of the sugar bush, enjoy the wagon ride, and take part in various farm activities. Don't miss the chance to browse our greenhouse for unique gift items and to visit the animal barn for some interactive fun.
Since many of the activities take place outdoors, be sure to dress appropriately for the winter weather. Visit Tollgate’s farm stand for an array of delightful products, including pure maple syrup, honey, and delicious creations made by the 4-H club. Join us to celebrate this beloved seasonal crop and uncover the sweetest side of Michigan!
Maplefest is a fundraiser. Proceeds support educational programming and increase accessibility to schools and individuals who might otherwise not be able to attend programs and camps.
