About this Event
Streamside stewardship activities like removing weedy plants and planting natives can have many environmental benefits for humans and wildlife in our region.
Join King Conservation District to tour two local streamside restoration projects. Participants will learn all about weedy and native plants, from identification to removal techniques and plant selection. Both tour projects are at nearby Maple Valley properties, and we can see on the tour how the land stewards at these properties incorporated their goals into the planting projects! In addition to project details you will learn about resources available to help homeowners complete these projects.
Topics include:
- Common streamside weeds, why are they detrimental, how to identify and control different species.
- Native plants: identifying local species, understanding growing requirements, and sourcing plant material.
- Resources available to help steward your streamside.
- Project planning, permits, and critical area regulations.
