Maniucha & Ksawery channel music from the Ukrainian wetlands of Polissya, the womb, and the woods. Their sound is an alchemical meeting of ancient song and fearless improvisation.
Rooted in the fading oral traditions of Polissya, a borderland of swamps and spirits, their music is a spell spun from wedding chants, lullabies, seasonal cycles, and whispered folktales. Maniucha, a genre-defying vocalist and folklorist, has spent years collecting songs from Ukrainian village elders. Her voice carries the grain of those voices—raw, soaring, earthy. Against this, Ksawery Wójciński’s double bass becomes something else entirely: a pulse, a shadow, a second voice. Drawing from a deep well of jazz, early music, and avant-garde play, his sound is both grounding and deeply free.
Together, they create something intimate yet untethered—improvised but ancient, delicate but unflinching. Their debut *Oj borom, borom...* captured that tension beautifully, and live, the duo conjures it anew each night. Whether in hushed rooms or on revered stages, they build a world where stories breathe and sound remembers.
Folk is the ghost here. Jazz is the fire.
