About this Event
Mangroves are an essential part of our Florida coastline. They protect our shorelines from wind and waves, support fisheries and coral reefs, and help to prevent pollutants from entering our estuaries. Yet with so many people moving to our state, waterfront homeowners don't always know the value of a living mangrove-lined shore. Landscapers can educate their clients on the importance of mangroves and the regulations around pruning or removing them. This workshop offers licensed landscape professionals FDACs CEUs (categories/quantities pending). A certificate of completion will be provided for non-CEU attendees. Expand your knowledge to better educate your clients about mangroves and their protection. Hear how local projects are reintroducing mangroves to restore healthy shorelines. Visit a mangrove wetland at the event facility for a mangrove pruning demonstration. Network with peers sharing your interest in promoting healthy shorelines. Light refreshments will be provided. Please bring sun protection and a refillable water bottle. We will be outdoors for the pruning activity.
