About this Event
Dysfunktone and TV Doctors Live at Ophelia’s (Albany) - Mango Cat Presents launch party
Mango Cat Presents is throwing its hat into the Capital District's live music ring with a kickoff party featuring the 2024 Eddie Awards Jamband of the Year (TV Doctors), and an energetic and rapidly rising band in the jam scene from Long Island (Dysfunktone).
Hailing from the Capital District, the TV Doctors are a three-piece fusion rock group that incorporate influences from across the musical spectrum. Featuring Evan Conway on bass, Robert Morris on drums, and Josh Witmer on guitar, the TV Doctors prescribe funk and deep grooves mixed with Zappa-esque guitar to cure your ear problems. Along with being an award winning trio, the TV Doctors have played many of the venues in this area and have developed a reputation of being a workhorse.
It is not easy to use words to describe the TV Doctors' sound, but one that comes to mind is: relentless. When they're onstage, there's no downtime - the TV Doctors do not have a cool down song, or a bathroom break song. Based off just how hard each of the members plays their instruments, it's kind of a miracle none of them have suffered injuries.
And that is why it was a no-brainer to ask the TV Doctors to pair up with another relentless band in Dysfunktone, for the launch party of Mango Cat Presents.
Dysfunktone was formed in a garage in East Rockaway, NY, derived from a shared interest in funky music, sushi, and noise complaints. They have since evolved into a full-fledged progressive jam-funk outfit that pushes the boundaries of genre and sound to the absolute edge.
The four-piece group is best known for its complex musical arrangements, huge dynamic changes at the drop of a dime, and ability to weave extended improvisational sequences into any song in its catalog, as well as unique interpretations of the music of the band's various influences.
With a strong desire to spread their Long Island sound, Dysfunktone has toured all over the Northeast, sharing the stage with artists such as Dopapod, TAUK, Lespecial, Magic Beans, Dirtwire, Kitchen Dwellers, Consider the Source, and many more.
