Join us for in-depth discussions, themed snacks, and new connections as Manga Club at Murasaki Kakurega dives into Yuhki Kamatani’s quintessential LGBTQ+ manga, Our Dreams at Dusk. A coming-of-age story about a young boy learning to accept himself as he intersects with the lives of people of various sexual orientations at a drop-in center.

What is Manga Club? It’s a book club but for manga!

Every Wednesday we discuss favorite moments, themes, and theories from some volumes of our current rotation of titles. Whether you’re reading ahead or just catching up, come share your thoughts, meet new friends, and celebrate the stories we love together!

Note that seating is limited to 10 people per meeting. RSVP before spots fill up!

When: Weekly on Wednesdays at 7:00PM-9:00PM

Fee: $5 per meeting. Buy tickets at shop.murasakikakurega.com or when you arrive. Save your spot by RSVP.

Rules and Guidelines:

1. Arrive to meetings having read the listed volume ready to discuss

2. Please source the manga on your own

3. No spoilers

4. Remember to have fun!

I can’t afford the volumes! Do I need to have the manga to attend meetings?

No, you do not need to have the manga to attend meetings. At Murasaki Kakurega, we try to be as convenient to everyone’s budget as possible. We recognize the high cost of purchasing multiple volumes of manga just to take part in Manga Club discussions. However, it is impossible for us to anticipate who will attend Manga Club and lend members with the necessary volumes supplied at our store. So we respectfully ask that members source the manga on their own. Fortunately, manga is one of the most accessible entertainment mediums in the world. Most major retailers have begun to sell Japanese manga in physical and digital formats, as well as free alternatives.

What’s important is that you are able to participate in group discussions having read the listed volumes.
