Mandala Christmas Workshop

Mandala Art Christmas Workshop, Saturday 13th December 2025, from 10am-1pm

Art and in particular, Mandala Art is a great activity to encourage mindfulness, relaxation and of course creativity.

Mandalas have been shown in clinical studies to help boost the immune system, reduce stress and pain, lower blood pressure, promote sleep and ease depression. They are bright, colourful, wonderfully geometric and really enjoyable to create and colour.

The mandala is an old ancient symbol that means 'sacred circle' in Sanskrit, one of the oldest languages spoken in what is now India. Many different cultures across the world have created mandalas. The belief is that the geometrical form speaks to something deep within every human being and drawing mandalas gives a sacred space to meet the Self and the universe.

This is one off Christmas workshop.

During this workshops we will be looking into the meaning of the colours that we will be incorporating in our mandala artwork. You will have the opportunity to follow the traditional style of mandala in circles or take your inspiration from everyday objects in our surroundings, and using the mandala style to create unique pieces of art.

we will then introduce using acrylic paints, but gel and ink pens can also be used if this is your preference.

Creating mandalas using acrylic paints will require some tools, of course professional tools are available and if you have these please bring them along. However tools can be made using a variety of objects such as old brushes, needles, toothpicks and beads, ear buds, old pens and pencils, wooden skewers and so forth. Why not bring along a selection of items to experiment with ?

A selection of gel pens, acrylic paint and paper will be available for you to use but should you already own acrylic paints in tubes or pots, or a set of gel/ink pens, or any other materials that you may find useful you are welcome to bring these.

You may also wish to purchase a small canvas (a square shape will be the most suitable) for your designs.

According to your budget you can purchase good quality acrylics from Goslings in Sudbury, or more affordable ones, including sets of gel pens, canvas or canvas board can be found in The Works, Poundland, the local supermarkets, and of course from online retailers.

Please note we run all our courses based on a minimum number of participants.

About your tutor:

Marina T-Harrison has a BA Hons in Arts ( BA in Painting, Electives in Scenography, and Conservation and Restoration) and Master in Arts (MA in Scenography, Theatre Direction Pathway).

Her educational background is built on the values of the University of Arts London, where she completed her education in the arts at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Marina has been teaching at WSC for several years, on many art courses and workshops.

Whether you are interested to have art as a hobby and a leisure activity, or pursue a career in the arts, Marina is a strong believer that you can achieve this at any stage of your life.
