Southern Oregon’s forests are changing rapidly; wildfire, drought, and shifting climate patterns are reshaping the landscape.
This workshop provides forest landowners with practical, science-based insights for managing woodlands with resilience, productivity, and biodiversity in mind.
Participants will learn how to incorporate site-specific ecological characteristics—such as soils, slope, and vegetation—into silvicultural planning. The focus is on strategies that support long-term forest health while meeting diverse landowner goals, including timber, habitat, water quality, and aesthetics.
Participants needing OPL (AOL) continuing education credits will receive 2 credits at this workshop
Topics discussed will include:
Site-level ecology with implications for silviculture
Multiple-objective silviculture (forest products, habitat, watershed protection, biodiversity, aesthetics, and more)
Natural history walk and talk, with emerging silvicultural lessons
Optional Field Tour
11 am - 2 pm: Join us for an optional field tour to dive further into the topics discussed. Bring a lunch. (limited space)
