About this Event

Event Date

19/10/2026 – 23/10/2026

Time

9am to 5pm (5 day course)

This 5 day short-course is designed for professionals seeking to strengthen their expertise in managing complex, human-induced risks across sectors. You will explore the full spectrum of man-made hazard, spanning land, air, and maritime environment, with a focus on real-world application and decision-making.

Key topics include crowd safety, industrial incidents, and the growing impact of emerging threats such as cyber-attacks and terrorism. Through current case studies and industry reports, you will critically assess how organisations respond to crises and identify actionable lessons that can be applied in your own professional context.

A central component of the unit is a strategic, multi-stakeholder simulation exercise. Working collaboratively, you will develop and test response plans, enhancing your ability to coordinate across agencies, manage uncertainty, and lead under pressure.

By the end of the unit, you will have strengthened your strategic thinking, risk assessment, and crisis management capabilities—skills directly applicable to roles in security, operations, public safety, and organisational resilience.

Please note: This 5-day course, which is also a module (Management of Man-made Disasters and Security Threats) within the Masters in Resilience and Disaster Management Programme, can be taken as a non-accredited CPD course. This option allows you to complete the course without undergoing the assignment process required for the MSc programme.
