On this immersive heritage darshan, we walk through a neighbourhood shaped by faith, philanthropy and community. As we weave our way past the many temples and religious institutions that anchor this area, we bring alive the story of its origins, the distinguished personalities who once called these streets home, and the fascinating Maratha connection that helped mould its identity. You will also hear the remarkable tale of a visionary philanthropist who not only restored the revered Kadu Malleswara Temple, but went on to create an entire lake for the neighbourhood in a bygone era.

Along the way, we also make a brief but fascinating stop at a traditional dhobi ghat, where the age-old rhythms of washing and work continue — and where you will meet the gentle donkeys that have long been an inseparable part of this everyday, living heritage.

Along the way, we pause to reflect on how Kadu Malleswara is steadily transforming into a crowded “Mall-e-swarm” — a place rapidly losing both its heritage structures and its intimate local culture. And, in true Bengaluru Byfoot style, we balance bytes of history with a few delicious bites from one of the area’s most iconic eateries.

The walk also opens the doors to a handful of gracious old homes — evocative of scenes straight out of Malgudi Days — where we uncover the quiet, personal stories hidden behind their fading façades.
