Learn to conceptualize and make your own cafe-quality signature matcha or coffee latte at home!
About this Event

In this hands-on coffee and matcha latte making class, students will be led through the process of conceptualizing, testing, and honing a signature drink to make at home. Lala, owner of the popup Dar Cafe, will share the process and recipes behind her viral matcha einspanner, pink cherry blossom foam, and the burnt honey latte, walking students through helpful frameworks to think about flavor and texture pairings and translating Middle Eastern dessert flavors into coffee and matcha concoctions.

Using provided herbs, foam tops, sweeteners, and in-season fruits (berries! peaches!), students will split up into small groups to come up with a signature drink to share with the class for feedback. Students will get to take home their creation plus a pint of Dar’s signature burnt honey syrup.

We will also go over affordable at-home alternatives to pulling an espresso-like shot without a pricey espresso machine, learn to whisk smooth matcha, and how to source great coffee and matcha for home use. We will also discuss beverage industry trends, like einspanners and mont blancs, and the popularity and scarcity of matcha. All tools and ingredients will be provided for this class, just come ready to get caffeinated! A light snack will be provided.

Class will be held at the Food Lab at The Foundry in Cambridge, MA and led by Lala Thaddeus, owner/operator of the popup Dar Cafe.
