About this Event
The ‘Making Cents of it all’ workshop series will focus on teaching participants about tools and resources that can aid in their financial management.
Each session will focus on the basics of saving money in different areas of folk’s daily lives, such as grocery shopping, budgeting, current benefits/programs that folks may be eligible for.
During these workshops folks will be able to learn something new or share their knowledge!
Light snacks and ttc tokens will be provided.
This program is for 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth aged 16-29. Participants must be registered with Friends of Ruby. Registration with Friends of Ruby can be done in-person at the event.
Making Cents of it All: Grocery Shopping tips – May 6th 5:00pm-6:30pm
We will focus on strategies and tips on how to save folks more at the checkout. From price matching, couponing, reward programs, food programs and more, we will go over the many ways folks are able to cut down on their grocery costs.
Making Cents of it All: Budgeting 101- May 13th 5:00pm-6:30pm
We will focus on how to work within your budget to save or pay off debt. This session will also go over basic debt management and credit utilization tips and resources to help guide you.
Making Cents of it All: Disability benefits, supports and tax credits - May 20th 5-6:30pm
This session will go over various disability benefits, supports and tax credits for eligible participants such as the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), ODSP, Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) and Canada Disability Benefit.
Making Cents of it All: Canadian Dental Care Plan - May 27th 5:00pm-6:30pm
This session will provide folks with information about the Canadian Dental Care plan, eligibility requirements and how to apply.
