In untrained or malicious hands, a penny whistle can be an instrument of torture. In this class we will study several techniques for getting surprisingly wonderful sounds out of these little devices. You will receive instruction starting with the basics of how the whistle works and ending with suggestions for continuing practice. Each technique can be practiced during the session and the instructor will shamelessly demonstrate as often as needed. Bring your own whistle, preferably in the key of D. Depending upon skill levels of students, a fair amount of tune swapping may occur. This will definitely bring your whistle skills up a notch!
