About this Event
The Makers Series is the exploration into the intricate interplay between inspiration, innovation, creativity and making–and how technology intertwines with creativity, empowering makers with insights and capabilities to serve as a catalyst for making.
Join us for presentations and conversations with a diverse selection of makers to more deeply understand their unique process of creating involving nature, community, architecture, experimental materials and processes which bring their ideas to the fore.
Johnanna Grawunder's large-scale, international public lighting and color installations are only one aspect of her diverse scale of work. For Johanna, the initial creative spark of a design is ignited and influenced by the "design brief", design intent and collaboration, but the process of refining, telling the story and the making of the object is layered in light and technology–resulting in a body of work that blurs the line between art and design for users to see, touch and experience. Trained as an architect, Johanna will walk us through the complex process of the design, engineering, making and installation of her work which spans decades and continents with large scale installations, lighting design, interiors, and unique commissioned pieces.
