About this Event
The Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest and JIMENA present: Israel's official day to commemorate Jewish refugees from North Africa & the Middle East with Keynote speaker Fleur Hassan-Nahoum.
Fleur Hassan-Nahoum grew up in Gibraltar and studied law at King's College, London University, qualifying as a barrister in 1997. After making aliyah to Israel in 2001, she focused on Jewish nonprofit work while managing her own communications consulting business. In 2016, she became a City Councilor in Jerusalem and soon rose to leader of the Opposition. Re-elected in 2018, Fleur was appointed Deputy Mayor for foreign relations, economic development, and tourism. She co-founded the UAE-Israel Business Council and the Gulf-Israel Women’s Forum, expanding international cooperation.
Since September 2023, Fleur has served as Israel’s special envoy for innovation and became the first woman appointed as Secretary General for Kol Israel in the World Zionist Congress. She is currently a senior fellow at the Misgav Institute for National Security and Zionist Strategy. Despite completing her term as Deputy Mayor in March 2024, Fleur remains deeply involved in advancing women's rights and promoting a pluralistic.
