Arnold’s Bar & Grill, Cincinnati’s oldest tavern and a cornerstone of the city’s bluegrass and Americana scene, will host its annual Black Friday record release celebration on Friday, November 28. The night features a full performance from Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle, special Maker’s Mark cocktails, and 100 free Maker’s Red Vinyl albums for the first guests through the door. Music runs from 8 to 11 p.m.
This Black Friday release marks the debut of Race Street Revival: The Herzog Sessions, created in partnership with Maker’s Mark and Neltner Small Batch Records. Each year, Arnold’s produces a limited-edition vinyl that pays tribute to Cincinnati’s musical heritage; this year’s record was made just two blocks away at the historic Herzog Studio, where Hank Williams Sr. recorded eight of his most influential songs in the late 1940s.
Working alongside the Cincinnati Music Heritage Foundation, Arnold’s and Neltner Small Batch brought The Tillers and Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle into that original Herzog room to re-record all eight Hank tracks. Each band cut four songs, one full side of the album, capturing both the history of the space and the energy of two of the region’s most beloved Americana acts.
Race Street Revival: The Herzog Sessions will be released on Friday, November 28 across all streaming platforms, as well as on a limited sea-glass splatter vinyl available exclusively at independent record stores throughout the region. A small number of glow-in-the-dark variants have also been pressed and will be randomly distributed to shops. Album packaging and embossing were completed by Otto Printing in Newport.
The Black Friday celebration at Arnold’s begins at 4 p.m. Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle take the stage from 8 to 11 p.m., with 100 free Maker’s Red Vinyl albums given away at the door.
“This project is a chance to honor the musicians who built this city and the ones who keep it moving today,” said Arnold’s owner Chris Breeden. “Recording in that original Herzog space made this year’s release feel different. It feels like a bridge between generations.”
