Make Your Own Mushroom Log: Beginner Mushroom Inoculation
About this Event
Make Your Own Mushroom Log: Beginner Mushroom Inoculation
Join certified mushroom experts Sweet Dee and Jesse of Resting Point Farms and make your own mushroom log. Get your hands dirty and learn the art of cultivating delicious mushrooms!
During the workshop you will:
• Learn basic identification principles for mushrooms and trees;
• Implement a Power Drill;
• Implement a Mushroom inoculating bit 5/8" & Corded Grinder;
• Inoculate with Mushroom Spawn Plugs;
• Wax logs to protect Mycelium;
• Receive customized guidance for home installation;
• Receive illustrated handouts.
Participants will take home a 3 foot inoculated mushroom log, illustrated mushroom log growing guide, mushroom identification quick guide, and a deeper understanding of mushroom cultivation at home with low tech practices.
Tools will be reserved at the Asheville Tool Library, and will be supplemented by the inventory of Resting Point Farms. If you have your own power drill, feel free to bring it to speed up our group and practice gaining confidence with your own power tools.
If you're able, bring reference photos of locations you hope to install your mushroom log. Ideal locations are shady, moist, and close enough to your daily natural walking paths so you don't miss a flush of mushrooms! Our customized guidance will bolster successful harvests for years.
